Daryl Yeap is the The Straits Times Bestselling author of As Equals: The Oei Women of Java. Daryl was born in Malaysia and educated in Australia. She started her career as a banking analyst before shifting into historical research and biographies. Her first book The King’s Chinese: From Barber to Banker, the story of Yeap Chor Ee and the Straits Chinese tells the story of the Straits British Chinese immigrants, told through the life of her great-grandfather, Yeap Chor Ee who came from Fujian. As Equals is her second book. She writes with a keen eye for detail and a great appreciation for the region’s history and culture.
